Getting Connected

  • Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone.
  • Open Timecode Window and choose the Tentacle you want to follow.
  • Keep the Tentacle powered on and within Bluetooth range during initial connection.
  • Once locked, Timecode Window can continue displaying timecode even through brief signal loss.

Picture in Picture

  • After selecting and syncing to your source, tap Start Timecode Window.
  • The timecode window will float over supported apps using iPhone Picture in Picture.
  • You can move the window around the screen while taking notes or working in another app.

Quick Copy Shortcut

Set up the Timecode Window shortcut with iPhone Back Tap so you can copy the current timecode without leaving the app you're working in.

Freerun & Re-Sync

  • If the Tentacle moves out of Bluetooth range, Timecode Window continues in freerun.
  • When the selected Tentacle comes back into range, the app re-syncs automatically.
  • Your selected source stays locked so the app does not jump between nearby devices.

Set Up Quick Copy

Quick Copy lets you grab the current Timecode Window value and paste it into Notes, messages, logs, reports, or any other app. The easiest setup is to assign the shortcut to iPhone Back Tap.

1. Find the Timecode Window Shortcut

  1. Open Apple’s Shortcuts app on your iPhone.
  2. Use Search and look for the Timecode Window shortcut/action for copying the current timecode.
  3. Add or save it so it appears in My Shortcuts.

2. Assign It to Back Tap

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Go to Accessibility → Touch → Back Tap.
  3. Choose Double Tap or Triple Tap.
  4. Scroll to the Shortcuts section and select the Timecode Window Quick Copy shortcut.

3. Use Quick Copy

  1. Keep Timecode Window running and synced to your selected Tentacle.
  2. While working in Notes, Google Docs, Messages, or another app, double- or triple-tap the back of your iPhone.
  3. The current timecode is copied to the clipboard.
  4. Paste it directly into your note, log, message, or report.

Tip: If Back Tap triggers accidentally during normal handling, use Triple Tap instead of Double Tap.
